Nigeria’s Kidnapped Children – BBC Africa Eye | Our World documentary

Kidnappers have seized more than a thousand students and staff from schools in a series of raids across northern Nigeria. The wave of abductions has had devastating consequences for the country, which already has the highest number of children out of education anywhere in the world. Parents face extortionate demands in exchange for the freedom of their sons and daughters, and many families in Africa’s most populous nation are now too afraid to send their children to class.

Mayeni Jones travels across north western Nigeria to meet those affected and find out what’s fuelling Nigeria’s kidnap crisis.

    1. WTF they dont want family to give them money otherwise they prosecuted you (and anyway they dont have this money), BUT WHAT THE FUCK GOVERNMENT DOING ABOUT IT IN THE OTHER HAND?? Also the kidnappers ask 2 millions dollars to family living in poor area? They cruel AND fuckimg dumb! They watch too many americans movies and think people will magically have this money on the continent. There is no special unti like SWAT in Nigeria..? I thought the economy was good and they was one of the best country in Africa…

    2. So… the police and government is useless is what you are saying… got it.

Ok, why are the kids sleeping at the school since this is happening? Why are there no guards since this is happening at the school?

If they not paying ransom, then what are they doing to get the kids back?

    3. Why can't the government get a drone with thermal sensors & scan every inch of the forest? The technology already exists!

    4. Why the Government didnt send armed police officers to guard all schools ….damn African are unbelievable…. how can you do this to your own people 😥

    5. The Fulani are marginalized ?😭😭😂

    6. Many Americans don’t even have that kind of money.

    7. If it’s their children they will negotiate but other ppls children they don’t care
      These politicians children school abroad
If ur not paying then go after the criminals

    8. Why are there children still in boarding schools this is very dangerous
      God please intervene

    9. We saw it in slavery my ansester was kidnapped an sold by their brother the same thing happening again. They blinded by greed destroying young man who could be the next doctors engineer an lawyer it's really sad.

    10. The people who are suppose to prevent this but do nothing WILL NEVER KNOW PEACE

    11. For salvation, we just need to follow the way they did it in Acts? They were baptized in water for the removal of sins and filled with the Holy Ghost. Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled and rising again from the dead. That's what Acts 2:38 is.
We must obey the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ… Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. St John 3:3-5, EXCEPT a man, be born of WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of GOD.
We can't come up with our own gospel. Galatians 1:6-9, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Don't be cursed.
One way for all people. Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritans. Our salvation has to match up with the scriptures and no scriptures on the subject can be taken away.  Eternity is TOOO long to be WRONG! st, John 5:39, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us.
The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38.
The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church.
It's better to walk alone than to walk with a crowd going in the wrong direction.
Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, And they continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone.
Don't get Titus 3:5 mixed up with James 2:14-26, about WORKS. One is a WORK of your OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS OR GOOD DEEDS and the other is a WORK OF FAITH OR OBEDIENCE TO GOD. One is letting you know that there are no Works we could have done to make Christ want to die on the cross for us. Romans 5:8, But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
The other is about believing and being obedient to God because you believe.  Faith without WORKS OR OBEYING GOD IS DEAD. James 2:14-26.
Noah believed and then OBEYED OR WENT TO WORK BUILDING THE ARK.
Now that Christ already paid the full price for our salvation we have to attain it by obeying his way to receive it, Acts 2:38! There is no sinner's prayer. Nowhere in the bible in this church age does it state to accept the Lord Jesus as your saviour and you are saved. Mark 16:16, he that believes and is baptized shall be saved.
FAITH WITHOUT OBEDIENCE TO GOD WILL BE IN VAIN. God bless you!

    12. The very fact that the situation right now is 10x worse than it was when this video was released is extremely disturbing

    13. A lot of them hide behind been men if God but they are anything but what they claim, may their wicked reign come to an ubrubt end.

    14. Do the kidnappers have a name?

    15. Ok why dey say for
      $$$$

    16. That's ridiculous most people even in Europe don't have that kind of money

    17. The CURE for Nigeria and ALL other African countries (especially Black Nations) is to REJECT RELIGIONS OF ALL TYPES and employ CRITICAL THINKING, LOGICAL REASONING AND BASIC SCIENCES.
You will see the fall of RELIGIOUS CRIMINALS, RELIGIOUS DICTATORS, AUTOCRATS AND ANTI- DEMOCRATIC DESPOTS.

    18. People kids are being kidnapped and the first thing they say is if they negotiate the parents will be prosecuted?? That is so evil, why aren’t they going out and getting those children back

    19. •Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. There is no other intermediary. May Jesus Bless you, trust Him, give your life – and He will take care of it :pray Convert yourself and believe in the Gospel – Romans 10 8-10 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”[a](A) that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: 9 If you declare(B) with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”(C) and believe(D) in your heart that God raised him from the dead,(E) you will be saved.(F) 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

    20. Poor people follow religion (Islam, Christianity) but the rich Saudi Arabians and Westeners don't provide sufficient financial capital to help the poor in Africa, etc.

    21. Thank you for this documentary. The issue is that the government keeps mobilizing people for NYSC in the north and people have been kidnapped on their way there. If parents are able to afford it they should just send their kids at least to the north central, it seems like a better plan.

    22. I love this channel. Keep up the good work

    23. Less than 40,000 views! 1st time I was aware, why isn't the world more concerned about this?
Sadly no one is able to act on this atrocious as the world is crumbling around all civilization.

    24. Mungu. Awahurumie. Watoto. Wa naigeria. Juu. Wanapitia. Hali. Ngumu. Sana.

    25. It is so unfortunate what Nigeria especially the north has turned into due to the gross incompetence of the government. What do you expect from the commoners? When the President is allegedly a terrorist sympathizer

    26. I pray for all the family affected. This is why my kids would never step their feet in that failed country .

    27. It's a shame, I only see male children in the school.
NIGERIA A COUNTRY WITH SO MUCH worth CORRUPTION. OH AFRICA 🌍😢

    28. I can't describe how heart broken this is….

    29. This country can't be saved unless it's free from islam

    30. Gummi negotiate with the bandit on behalf of government. Who is deceiving who may God help his people out of these dilemma.

    31. Politician are definitely involved in this matter because they want to play dirty politics and they needs money and protection for future politics All are corrupt. Only children's are suffering and their parents I wish Nigeria would be free as soon as possible this kind of kidnapping and extortion and children leaved like a butterflies ❤🤞🏻

    32. The Northern elite invested in religious fundamentalism for decades, this is the return on investment for other evil and short sightedness.

    33. Nigeria government stop playing around with the pain parents are going through loosing there kids 😢so painful

    34. Kidnapping is business of fulani bandits they are been pampared by Nigeria current president who is also a fulani man

    35. Nigeria 🇳🇬 is at war but the international community turned a blind eyes. Referendum we want, let the Yoruba Nation and Biafra Republic go now

    36. Kidnapping school children is simple way to enforce the bokoharam agenda, Western education is forbidden In the northern part of country but politicians are comfortable with the situation and they are now using it as political weapons against opposition…

    37. That's a good point if you're not negotiating with them and you're not going after them then you're not solving the problem

    38. When will you start disseminating favourable news about Africa?

    39. When People have no jobs they can be desperate. but kidnaps should have a human spirit and keep them alive.

    40. No mention of the police or military intervention to stop this crime .

    41. It seem like all Nigerians speak English as if its their first language.
