Street Dreams: Dancing to Survive – BBC Africa Eye documentary

A group of street dancers in Nairobi struggle against the odds to become celebrities.

A seven-strong group of homeless street dancers in Nairobi, who call themselves the Street Family Dance Crew are determined to overcome the desperate hardships of street life and make their names as celebrity dancers. Film-maker Nick Wambugu follows them for two years on their quest to find fame and fortune. Their journey is fraught with obstacles as they endure hunger and destitution, bust-ups with police, family troubles, and the crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is a film about hope and ingenuity, resilience and courage, as the boys find ways to survive and keep dancing – hoping, against all the odds, that they will break through and hit the big time.

Africa Eye brings you original, investigative journalism revealing secrets and rooting out injustice in the world’s most complex and exciting continent. Nothing stays hidden forever.

    11. Dancing will not do you any good without God. What is missing in people's life is God who created them. The energy you are using to dance to look for peace or some sort of solace will not do you any good. Life comes from a relationship with God in spirit. People are looking for life in all the wrong places. Without God who created life, you cannot find life anywhere else you look, anywhere you go or anything you do on God's earth without God. You are just opening yourself up for Satan to challenge you and capture you, and put your spirit-man in bondage. No man has an authority to live in this world and have peace and joy without going through God. Ignoring God in your life is ignoring your own life. It is God who has allow Satan to put in bondage those who have no fear of God, who created the food they eat to stay alive, the ground they walk on, and the air you breathe to survive on this earth. And don't you forget it! I am a man of God sent by God to warn all mankind for the coming "End Time". Don't waste your time or your life, looking for life in all the wrong places without God who created you. So, be warned. The devil has deceived mankind to separate mankind from God where life comes from. Now, all we have on earth today, is gloom and doom, pain and suffering, Darkness and death from Satan's kingdom of darkness, where most of you reside. God revealed to me recently that majority of mankind on earth live in the kingdom of Darkness with Satan, and not in Heaven on earth with God. Apostle R. A.

    20. if the punishment for a crime is a fine 19:20 , then that law only exists for the poor. Let me explain, people most likely to be accused of such crimes are people like them without a place to stay, they also the most likely people to not have a lawyer or afford to pay the money at times. Instead of addressing the issue they rather exploit them and hide the reality from everyone else by keeping them behind bars

    21. This brought tears to my eyes. I pray these guys find their way in life 🙏

    22. 42:50 ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SOLUTIONS TO A PROBLEM. whEN YOUR CHILD IS TAKEN AWAY AND YOU GET HIM BACK, WHAT DO YOU DO TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS?

    23. In capitalism several things are immediate crimes: Being dark skin, being female, being African, being non Christian/ non Muslim/ non Jewish, but being financially poor is the biggest crime.

    24. Politicians are a holes around the world.

    25. Their nation should fund an apartment, daily food, transportation costs, medicals for them and market them to the world. F politics.

    26. The rich Muslims (like rich Christians) live like Kings/Queens. The poor ones are cursed to poverty and hunger? F religion

    27. Why so many ladies in Africa bleech their skin? So sad. 3:20

    28. Can I get moha contacts please I would like to donate small for the upkeep of the King🙏🏾

    29. This has really captivated me, how can I help these kids??

    30. A very touching documentary. Thanks for showing the world what people go through to just keep alive. The judge who released these kids free, God bless you. As for the Kanjo he who kills by the sword will die by the very sword. They are sucha pitiless lot.

    31. •Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. There is no other intermediary. May Jesus Bless you, trust Him, give your life – and He will take care of it :pray Convert yourself and believe in the Gospel – Romans 10 8-10 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”[a](A) that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: 9 If you declare(B) with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”(C) and believe(D) in your heart that God raised him from the dead,(E) you will be saved.(F) 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
